Project Title: Pilgrim’s Progress CDC Website Redesign
Client/ Organization: Pilgrim’s Progress CDC / PBC Green Team
Result
The redesigned website gave Pilgrim’s Progress CDC a more modern, credible, and community-centered digital presence. Visitors can now understand the organization’s mission, explore its youth and community programs, learn about its impact, contact the organization, and access a direct donation pathway. The new design also places the organization’s students, volunteers, and community activities at the center of the experience. Large photographs, original video content, stronger typography, and simplified navigation make the organization’s work more visible and easier to understand.
The completed website provides Pilgrim’s Progress CDC with a stronger platform for community outreach, program awareness, volunteer engagement, partnership development, and fundraising.
Redesigned Website
Project Overview
Pilgrim’s Progress CDC needed to modernize its existing PBC Green Team website and create a stronger digital presence for its expanding youth, environmental, health, and community programs. The previous website contained valuable information, but the small typography, limited visual hierarchy, dated layouts, and minimal calls to action made it difficult for visitors to quickly understand the organization’s mission and programs.
I redesigned the website with a modern visual system centered on the organization’s green brand identity, community photography, youth-focused messaging, and clear navigation. I also added a dedicated donation experience that explains why financial support matters and gives visitors a direct way to contribute to the organization’s mission.
Creative Approach
I began by reviewing the previous website’s structure, navigation, content, and visual presentation. I identified opportunities to improve hierarchy, simplify navigation, strengthen calls to action, and make the organization’s youth and community impact more visible. I developed a new visual direction using light green, black, white, and supporting earth tones. Large typography, rounded navigation elements, bold page headings, full-width photography, dark image overlays, and open content sections gave the website a cleaner and more contemporary appearance.
The homepage was redesigned around a strong hero section featuring young people participating in environmental activities. The headline, supporting message, and prominent Donate button immediately communicate the organization’s purpose and give visitors a clear next step. I created dedicated pages for the organization’s story, youth programming, community programs, contact information, and donations. Program information was reorganized into cards and clearly labeled sections, allowing visitors to scan the available services without reading long, uninterrupted blocks of text.
The Youth Programs section uses large community photography and direct messaging to position the work as more than a seasonal program. The page presents youth development as an ongoing investment in leadership, cultural awareness, environmental responsibility, wellness, civic engagement, and creative expression. For the donation page, I combined mission-focused messaging, original video content, suggested giving amounts, a custom donation option, and a clear Donate Now call to action. This gave supporters a more direct path from learning about the mission to financially supporting it.
I also incorporated photographs and video content from the organization’s actual programs so the website could show real students, volunteers, and community work rather than relying primarily on generic imagery.
Challenge
The primary challenge was reorganizing a large amount of information about Pilgrim’s Progress CDC and PBC Green Team into a website that felt clear, modern, and easy to navigate. The organization supports environmental initiatives, youth development, workforce preparation, health education, food security, civic engagement, creative expression, and family resources. These programs needed to be organized in a way that helped visitors quickly understand both the variety of services and the larger mission connecting them.
The previous website also lacked a prominent donation pathway. The redesigned experience needed to make financial support visible without allowing fundraising messages to overpower the organization’s youth and community stories. Another challenge was preserving the organization’s established identity while creating a substantially different visual experience. The new website needed to feel familiar to existing stakeholders while being more engaging for students, families, volunteers, donors, and community partners.
